desk實習,圖書館並安排了數個不同類型圖書館的參訪行程,包括New York State Library,
Albany Public Library, Hudson Valley Community College(HVCC)Library, Siena College
Library等.

今天上午先到New York State Library參訪,除了認識其服務內容與館藏資源外,並進一步與該館館員討論預算刪減對州立圖書館的影響;下午回到UAlbany的reference desk進行實習,主要是觀察參考館員如何解決讀者的問題,同時了解參考問題的類型與應對方式,最後再針對館員提供的10個參考問題進行實作演練.

上午到辦公室後,先和Library
Policy Group進行meeting,並敲定星期五至Albany Public Library,
Hudson Valley Community College(HVCC)Library,
Siena College Library等圖書館的參訪行程;下午則參與圖書館的Zotero書目管理軟體推廣課程,除了實際體驗workshop的上課方式,同時也學習到新的書目管理工具.

本週課程一開始同樣是學生例行的文章分享,之後教授再以Academic Librarians and Promotion, Tenure, & Merit為主題,探討圖書館員在Teaching,Research以及Professional Development各方面機會與挑戰.

本週課程主題著重在using non-Flash graphics以及adding sound to Flash兩方面,並簡單介紹basic
interactivity in Flash與frame actions等功能.

今天主要是到Albany Public Library, Hudson Valley Community College(HVCC)Library, Siena College Library進行參訪,雖然行程有些緊湊,不過也因為是在同一天看了3所不同類型的圖書館,反而更容易比較其中的差距,再加上星期一的New York State Library,對於美國各類型圖書館的認識又更加完整.
這禮拜繼續在Library Systems實習,結束上週的project後,本週開始跟進三個小project,分別是”Evaluate the Information
Commons Development Website”, “EZProxy discovery of barcodes in logs”,
“Evaluation of Urchin 6 features”等.

上午進辦公室後先報告LinkResolver project的執行成果,接著再跟進三個新的project,首先進行的是”Evaluate the Information Commons Development Website”,主要是協助圖書館Information Commons網頁的改版,並為其提供未來發展建議.

今天除了繼續完成”Evaluate the Information Commons Development Website”,並開始另一項project—“Evaluation of
Urchin 6 features”, Urchin是一個web log file analysis tool,圖書館主要是使用該工具進行網頁資訊流量的分析,目前使用的是Urchin 5,未來將升級為Urchin 6,因此該計畫是協助圖書館開發Urchin 6的新應用功能.

本週課程一開始先繼續term paper的報告,主題是women
in academic librarianship,之後則進行每人十分鐘的special assignment presentation,這個作業的目的是讓學生了解1940-1949, 1950-1959, 1960-1969,
1970-1979, 1980-1989, 1990-1999各階段圖書館議題的變遷,我抽到的是1970-1979年代,因此選擇present的文章是於1976年由The Journal of Academic
Librarianship出版的”Circulation
Service—Is it Meeting the User’s Nedds?”;報告結束後,老師先為上週的Academic Library Hiring Process做補充,接下來則是邀請SUNY Albany的Chief Information Officer(CIO)進行演講,主題是大學與圖書館在IT方面的合作關係,並探討未來IT的發展趨勢及議題機會.

本週課程主題著重在Flash的進階使用,包括Flash
layers, the basics of Flash animation, the timeline in Flash, Keyframes, frame
by frame animations, shape and motion tweening in Flash, Flash movie-clips等.

今天上午先將“Evaluation of Urchin 6 features”收尾,接著執行“EZProxy discovery of barcodes in logs” project,這個計畫的目的是將最近三個月(8~10月)SUNY Albany學生登入EZProxy Server所使用的barcodes進行過濾,從中提取錯誤的紀錄,再將其製作成excel表格交給project manager;下午則和Head of Circulation會面,了解圖書館流通櫃檯的作業程序與工讀生的訓練過程,之後再和Union University
Professions(UUP)meeting,討論美國現行教育政策與預算等議題.
本週延續上週term paper的報告,題目包括scholarly
public and the editorial process, collection development and the role of the
subject librarian, the impact of emerging technologies on academic libraries等,之後再由教授講解Academic Library
Hiring Process的程序與進行方式.

to Adobe Flash – Flash’s role on the web, what it is and what it does, accessibility
and Flash, HTML 5.0 and Flash, creating and modifying simple graphics in Flash,
以及complex
graphics in Flash等.
